How To Get Clients To Agree To Your Web Designs

CATEGORY: Web Design

One of the biggest problems that many web designers will face is clients who say no to all of their designs or who make many changes and are hesitant about saying yes. Obviously, you cannot go back and forth with your ideas and designs forever, so how do you get your clients to say yes?

Firstly, you need to ensure that your relationship with your clients places you in the role of the expert. You’re the web designer, they’re the business owner – they don’t know much, if anything, about the internet, hence why they have employed your services. In asserting yourself as the expert, your clients are more likely to listen to what you are saying and take your advice.

Secondly, you need to have a more positive attitude when it comes to your clients and their web designs. Your clients are not stupid and they will quickly pick up on your patronizing attitude if that’s how you choose to communicate with them. Don’t block out their ideas – some of them are actually very good – just ensure that you explain to them the consequences of their decisions.

Thirdly, shape the client’s role for them so that they know exactly what is expected of them at each stage of the project. Ensure that they focus on the problems rather than the solutions – why don’t they like part of the web design and why don’t they think it will work. Try and focus your client on their users, as this will help to prevent them from focusing on personal opinion.

Getting your clients to say yes to your web design is not really that hard, so long as you ensure to include them in the project from the very start. This way, they will understand the reasons for your decisions, as well as the reasons for their own, and are more likely to be much more agreeable.
